While Hilton Head Island is celebrated for its recreational activities such as golf and for outstanding resort vacations the island is also home to a thriving local arts community, which includes theater, dance, music and fine arts.
The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, located in the center of HIlton Head Island, is home to Broadway caliber theater and also showcases exhibitions of local artists as well as concerts.
The Walter Greer Gallery features the works of nearly a dozen artists. The Greer Gallery is the host of the yearly Hilton Head Art League's Juried Exhibition in May. The Gullah Celebration is also held here which highlights the local Gullah culture.
The Hilton Head Orchestra has become incredibly popular over the years and performances are consistently sold out.
The Hilton Head Art League maintains a permanent collection at the Pineland Station.
"Bravo - Celebrate the Arts" is the island-wide annual arts festival held in late April through the end of May. Bravo is a cooperative effort between area arts organizations, civic and private enterprise and it demonstrates the health of the arts community on the Island. The festival features regional talent in performing and visual arts, as well as an art show at Honey Horn Plantation that attracts talent from across the nation.
