Get Out There for Some Fitness Fun!

The Island boasts over 60 miles in leisure trails, which means if you want to walk, bike, run, roller blade, jog, or scooter about the Island, you can do it here. Hilton Head Island is full of fun activities that also happen to give you a good workout. And here are just a few:

Tennis is very popular on Hilton Head. Many of the Plantations have tennis facilities and courts available for use. The Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center, South Beach Racquet Club, and the Van Der Meer Racquet Club are all fantastic options and offer clinics, lighted courts, and lessons. Love!

A new activity in town is the ZipLine. They are located at Broad Creek Marina and offer a two hour canopy tour through Hilton Head's beautiful trees. If you didn't bring your bike on vacation, no worries, you can rent one. There are many bike rental companies on the island and they can even deliver bikes to you. You can get traditional beach cruisers, tandem bikes, trailers for the kids, trikes, and much more.

Swimming laps at the Island Rec Center can be done any time of the year. During the winter months, there is a cover over the large, outdoor, Olympic sized pool. The Island Rec Center also offers water aerobics classes. Island Rec Center

Chaplin Park has a lot of options for active folks. There are soccer fields, basketball hoops, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and a playground. You'll never tire of the options but may tire from so much activity! Located mid island at Bradley Beach.

If you prefer to get your workout accomplished in a traditional setting, there are many fitness centers on the island offering free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, row machines, and a plethora of classes for all levels. Breakthrough Fitness (South End), Beach City Fitness (North End), and Lava 24 Fitness (Mid-Island) are just a few that offer full and temporary memberships as well as "pay per visit" programs.

Golf is the obvious Hilton Head activity. With 18 courses on the Island, we know a little something about the sport. And as any golfer will tell you, it is a workout even if you ride in a golf cart. To find a complete list of golf courses, visit Golf Hilton Head .

So get out there and get active. But then, sit back on the beautiful sandy beaches, stick your toes in the warm water and relax. After all, you deserve it.
